West Metro Fire Rescue has rescheduled the Peer Support Certification Class. The new dates for Part I are May 19th & 20th, and Part II on June 17th & 18th.

Through this class, attendees will learn how to use their lived experience with mental health to support their peers. In addition to learning basic skills, attendees will also be taught the fundamentals of wellness, recovery, trauma, substance use, advocacy and finding resources for their agency. Additionally attendees will learn how to support their peers through critical incidents.
Emily Johnson is the instructor and West Metro’s Mental Health Coordinator. She not only has lived experience as the spouse of a responder, but has worked alongside Public Safety since 2018. Throughout her time, she has taught more than a dozen Peer Support classes in the state of Colorado and functioned as Clinical Oversight for multiple agencies Peer Support Teams in her previous role.
Colorado agencies are eligible for reimbursement through the Colorado Firefighter Behavioral Health Trust.
