KSAFC Annual Conference

On behalf of the Kansas State Association of Fire Chiefs (KSAFC), we're pleased to share that registration is open for the 2026 KSAFC 110th Annual Conference, taking place October 28–30 at the Margaritaville Hotel in Kansas City, Kansas.

This annual event brings together fire chiefs, command staff, fire service professionals, administrative personnel, industry partners, and state leaders from across Kansas for several days of education, collaboration, and networking focused on advancing the future of the fire service — and we wanted to make sure our partner organizations across the state knew they're welcome to join us.

This year's vendor expo SOLD OUT completely well ahead of the event, a good indicator of the energy and turnout building around this conference.

Highlights of the schedule:

  • Wednesday, Oct 28 – Chief's Roundtable (FREE to attend), FMAK Meeting, and the FD Administrative Assistant Forum.

  • Thursday, Oct 29 – Keynote sessions with Dr. David Griffin, examining the Charleston 9 tragedy through the lens of organizational culture and leadership, and a follow-on session on the real cost of the fire service — mental health, suicide, occupational cancer, and family support. The day also includes the Awards Ceremony & Luncheon, a SAFER Grant update, KSAFC business updates, the vendor trade show, and the BBQ and Hospitality Vendor Night

  • Friday, Oct 30 – Keynotes from Fire Marshal Mark Engholm,  Dr. Wesley Attwood (NIOSH) and Chief Dennis Rubin on how fire departments can request services and an overview of a past Kansas City incident, and Dave Carroll on building a storytelling culture, followed by lunch and the KSAFC business meeting
