APA-The Engineered Wood Association is hosting a free, three-hour training session on fire protection for engineered wood I-joists from 1-4 p.m. January 25 at Fire Headquarters in Alamosa, Colorado.

Engineered wood I-joists are commonly used in one- and two-family dwellings and townhomes. When exposed to fires, the unprotected I-joists can fail quickly, putting fire fighters and civilians at risk.

This training program will describe features, benefits and fire safety challenges for wood I-joists and what the codes and construction industry are doing to protect first responders.  The course is eligible for 0.3 continuing education units from the International Code Council.

The program is free, but you will need to register with Alamosa Fire Department.  Contact Rob Neale with any questions Rob@IntegraCC.com or call 719-587-2533 to register.
